This is one of the most popular classical ballets, temperamental, bright, passionate, and full of beautiful Spanish dances. The plot learns from the immortal novel Miguel Cervantes «Don Quixote», but introduced the necessary love line. Don Quixote, having read some novels, a journey for the deeds. With him was his constant companion of Sancho Panza. The daughter of the innkeeper Kitri seems to Don Quixote beautiful Dulcinea. But Kitri loves barber Basil. A number of fun adventure ends in a wedding Kitri and Basil and a complete collapse of the absurd dreams of Don Quixote.
On a background of rapid vortex motions of a ballerina, rampant spinning like a top, and courageous and «air» her partner, Don Quixote may seem like an old man in rusty armor, but the reality is that it creates the image of dreams, incredible battles and sweet irony, which permeate this ballet.
Deprived of, essentially, a harmonious development of the plot, psychologically in-depth images and exciting feelings, ballet enjoys the same recognition and love of the most demanding audience.
In 1998, the show won the Grand-prix of the festival «Theatrical Yoshkar-Ola».
