«Romeo and Juliet» – one of the plays of Shakespeare, which are the most rich colors. It has a lot of different tones from a cheerful smile to the wild despair, from the gentle love before the fierce anger. But above all dominated by the love of life and faith in the victory of truth and good. This tragedy is one of the greatest creations of Shakespeare, which has a long life in art.
Konstantin Ivanov together with the artist Boris Golodnitsky created their own version of the ballet. They presented a familiar story with a new point of view. Verona tragedy is not because of actions, but from the enduring way of life, with which the individual soul is able to cope only with the willingness to their own destruction. The general impression left tragedy, are not so gloomy. Shakespeare sought not so much lead the viewer to moral judgment on their characters, how much closer to understanding the nature of man. And when the task of the writer achieved in the work reveals an underlying faith in man, which constitutes the basis of even the works of Shakespeare, in which people manifest themselves, not with the best hand.
Konstantin Ivanov, a choreographer:
«Now, when played the premiere, the performance was very well received by the audience, were supportive of criticism, his heroes are still living in my heart. Not by chance I made him the subject of his diploma at the Russian academy of theatrical art, where the work was assessed as «excellent». And yet every time I was with some trepidation stand the performance to the audience. This is like the most expensive, home my child, what was virtually his entire adult life».
Artist Boris Golodnitsky became a laureate of the theatre award name Iyvan Kyrlya at the festival «Theatrical Yoshkar-Ola» for the creation of costumes for the ballet.
On July 18, 2012 the play was shown open air on Obolensky-Nogotkov Square in the framework of the II Festival «Summer Seasons».
